Bird Rock Elementary School, located in the Bird Rock area of La Jolla, focuses on academic achievement and personal responsibility through a standards-based curriculum that challenges students to “rise to their highest potential through inquiry, discovery, and collaboration.”

The school is recognized as a California Distinguished School. Teacher collaboration and strong parent dedication can be attributed to its success. And, through the Voluntary Enrollment Exchange Program (VEEP), a number of students choose to attend Bird Rock, a total of 468 students, enriching the school’s cultural diversity.

All students are offered a comprehensive curriculum that concentrates on literacy, mathematics and science. Teachers set high expectations, use multiple measures of assessment and take responsibility for student performance. And, all students have the opportunity to participate in PTA-sponsored after-school enrichment classes that offer a wide range of opportunities in fine arts, foreign languages and sports.
