Many residents walk to the beach daily and observe the sun setting over the sparkling Pacific Ocean. Watching the sunset is a regular routine for many locals.

The Community of Solana Beach
City services and amenities include a number of well-maintained parks, weekly farmers market and senior services which includes transportation when needed. The City of Solana Beach also sponsors a junior lifeguard training camp and a summer day camp for children. The Solana Beach school district serves about 3000 children in the K-6 level. The school district does not post academic scores publicly.
Solana Beach is known for its Amtrak train station. Often, commuters from San Diego to Los Angeles are able to make the commute faster and at lower cost than driving. The train trip is full of beautiful scenery and far more relaxing than fighting Southern California traffic. The train also carries many passengers to the Del Mar Thoroughbred club which is just minutes from Solana Beach.
