The Montessori School of La Jolla’s main goal is to provide a loving, nurturing, calm and caring, yet
stimulating environment. The school, founded by Charole Sherlock, promotes respect, independence,
enthusiasm for learning and appreciation for self and others. Its philosophy mirrors other Montessori
schools, aiding in the development of the child’s unique individual potential.
Offering a quality Montessori education and child care, the Montessori School of La Jolla has two
Children’s House classrooms (ages 3-6 years), and a Toddler classroom (ages 18 months to 3 years). Its
individualized program is designed in accordance with each child’s social and emotional needs, as well as
his or her academic and physical development.
With academic curriculum consisting of reading, math, computer education, and geography, as well as
practical life, music and woodworking; the syllabus also incorporates cultural subjects, such as Spanish.
Extracurricular activities include gymnastics, dance and Orff music.
